This series involved the purchasing of unique pieces of porcelain found at two branches of Savers in Providence, RI. The pieces were selected based on their perceived and documented history, which included signs of age and use as well as visible marks created by the makers/previous owners. Visible signs reveal records of a previous history, raising questions of how they ended up in a place which devalues their worth and erases their past. This project documents these histories and attempts to create a narrative for each distinct piece of porcelain. By breaking and repairing each piece, I attempt to reinstate value and preciousness to each piece by elevating their status to that of an artifact. Hopefully, this process will start a new chapter in the lives of these objects.
